David Lappin

Highest score in a match: For the Seconds in 2006 - 78 vs Portlaoise (and Armin Smit whose questionable action and my verbalised beliefs on said action lead to my being banned in the previous season)
Best Bowling Figures: 10-3-23-7 vs Merrion 2nds in 2004 (I went for 41 in 3 overs the next week)
Best cricketing memory: winning the schools senior cup in 1998, captaining the 4ths to the middle B title in 2002, being the leading wicket-taker in Senior 2 in 2005 (31 wickets at 16)
Worst cricketing memory: captaining the 2nds to relegation in 2005, being dropped from the 3rds by Charles when I was 15 years old (never forgot it and got my 'revanche' 6 years later dropping him from the 3rds - mwahahaha). Seeing Amy Kenealy lose a pint of blood out of the top of her head after getting hit by a cricket ball (Rob O'Connor could have worn it in the belly like a man but instead sidestepped leaving amy a sitting duck*)
*I also dived out of the way.
Funniest Cricketing Moment: Colin Ryan has provided many - the only unmentioned one I can recall is actually from a game of 5-a-side when attempting to back-heel the ball, he tripped over it, flying head first into the barricade. He hobbled off complaining of a hamstring strain? Brian Delany borrowing a bike so he could cycle from fineleg to fineleg. Mick Brennan donning the Germany strip in lieu of a cricket shirt John Mullen's countless Mullenisms and his row with Ivan Sadler in Ballyeighan Charles Richards's last second side step from a pullshot that rocketed off the bat of Danny Sexton toward spectators on the square leg boundary during the YM Salver final - poor Ciaran Casserly had no chance and was well and truly nailed, sitting behind where Charles had been standing. (That one made me wet myself a little)
Favourite Innings: that 78 vs laois when Ken Taylor and I put on 201 for the 2nd wicket. Also an innings vs Merrion when I got 46 coming in at 9, myself and Dave Lucas putting on 130 for the 8th wicket
Favourite International Cricketer: Michael Atherton
Best Teas in Ireland: Halverstown
Favourite Ground: Leinster/Malahide
"The Inzamam Award for Temper Tantrums" goes to: So many worthy nominees. I'll do a top 5.
5 - Nick Ryan's rollicking of Bob Cramp in the dressingroom after his contribution (or lack thereof) resulted in a a narrow defeat in a 6s match
4 - Luke Ginnell's much talked about reaction to his dismissal after his 900th consecutive dismissal for under 10 (I was the one who salvaged most of the gear) - After, launching the first pad onto the balcony and the second at the tree, an unwitting Hugh MacDonnell got a glove in the head!
3 - Justin Cramp: the infamous Phoenix Park innings during which he scored 6 runs (by mistake) in 29 overs (mostly padding the ball away), asked for a runner because he claimed to have sunstroke, refused to bat while the helicopter landed and took off and told every single player on the opposition to @#*% off after they finally dismissed him with an over of our innings to go. Also, his refusal to field a single ball between the years 2001 and 2003
2 - Me: the waterbottlegate scandal of 2004 and the chuckergate scandal of 2005 (to be fair, it was Asim and some other esteemed member of the medical profession doing most of the shouting)
1- Michael Scully: The infamous (and only time I have ever seen a batsman given out for) OBSTRUCTION, Mick was given out by Stephen Rocket after he hit a ball harmlessly skyward and shouldered the incoming fielder who attempted to catch it. His refusal to walk was priceless (I think it took several men from his own team to remove him from the crease)!
Least favourite English cricketer(s): Why do we have to have least favourite English cricketers?
Hopes for my career: To frustrate batsmen and eventually get them caught on some far-away boundary, to score a ton (may need to bring back the timeless format)
A short summary of me as a player:
bereft of any raw talent, I try hard to apply myself .

David K Lappin
Ideally the first change bowler, bowling my 10mph in-duckers while the opposition batsmen are still building their innings (otherwise it tends to be gardens/canals/Mount Pleasant). Prefer to bat at 7/8 but have been pigeonholed as an opener of late.
