Scholtz wins Solomon Cup

Anton Scholtz has won the 2006 Solomon Cup, the trophy awarded to the Senior player with the most catches in the league. The last Leinster player to win was JP O'Dwyer in 2003, so bizarrely the last two Leinster winners haven't been able to catch a ball. Scholtz managed to grab 13 catches in 14 matches to leave him one clear of the chasing pack of Barry Archer, Adrian Murphy and Dave Langford-Smith. Pick of those 13 was probably the dismissal of Pembroke's Stu McDonnell. Anton had dozed off, before realising the ball was travelling at some speed towards 1st slip, where he managed to turn, twist and swivel to take a screamer high and behind him with one hand. Most important were the two in two balls against Merrion - Damien Poder and Jeff Short edging Sarfraz Anwar to Scholtz, who got the Short effort at the 3rd time of asking.
