Youth
Section visit local schools.
As part of Leinster Cricket Clubs continous plan to introducing cricket to
the local community, the youth section has just completed five sessions in
local primary schools.
Most recently, we visited the National Muslim School, in Clonskeagh. The
Principal, Hilda Dowling, has been welcoming us into her school for the last
three years. Like most primary schools,
finances are tight, and the kids only get one hour of physical education a
week, which explains the energy and enthuisism from the kids, once they got a
bat or ball into their hands. I was
assisted by Natasha Smith, Brian Hammond, Kevin Warren and son, Sean. Both 3rd
and 4th Classes played games of quick cricket for 3 hours. The children loved every minute of it and all
were keen to get details of Sunday morning cricket and the upcoming cricket
camps in the club.

A couple of weeks earlier we visited Kildare Place Primary School, where we
did sessions with 4th, 5th and 6th Classes . This time I was assisted by Irish
internationals Amy Kenealy and George Dockrell, and the ever reliable Brian
Hammond. As like the National Muslim School, we have been visiting KPS for a
number of years now and it was interesting to spot a lot of familiar faces, who
had joined Leinster since our last visits.

I would like to thank the schools for having us, and especially the people
who gave up their free time to help me. Without these people, the youth section
would not be in such a healthy state.
